The main activity of Krokodil Association’s new project Audio-Marathon: Reading while Running is the preparation program for the Belgrade marathon while listening to audio books.
Audio-Marathon is a unique project which connects culture and physical activity. Be one of the ten runners who will, with the help of audio books, prepare for their first race or their new personal record on one of the races (5k, 7k, 21k, 42k) on the Belgrade marathon, scheduled for May 16th 2021.
During the three months of preparations, the participant will take part in a runner’s only book club, which will combine running, audio books and narration. During their training, the runners will listen to one audiobook a month, which they will discuss in a separate meeting with other participants of the program. Besides the selected audio books which the participants will get within the project, the runners are encouraged to individually listen to other literary audio programs about which they can talk about in the meetings.
From the beginning of testing, a team of highly professional trainers and nutritionists will be working with the runners: Ivan Čurović, Nemanja Marković, Jovan Jovanović and Vera Radojević, as well as writer Vladimir Arsenijević who will be leading the monthly book club.
Krokodil Association’s newest project is part of the European project Be (P)Art. Grow with arts, which is being realized with partner organizations from Spain, Belgium, and Hungary: PEN Català, UC Limburg, Szepirok Tarsasaga Egyesuleteuc i Fundación Uxio Novoneyra. The focus of activities in this three-year project is bringing literature closer to younger people because of its key role in understanding the world, developing critical thinking and the skill of creatively solving problems, as well as the beneficial influence of reading and physical activity on mental health.
Many well know writers who are at the same time recreational runners, such as Haruki Murakami, Ante Tomić, Srećko Horvat, Vladimir Arsenijević, Nebojša Lujanović and many others, are witnesses to the connection between these two fields
