On October 10th, at the closing of the European project Engage! Young Producers, the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB) hosted LiterACTION, a meeting where young people, literature and cultural participation were the main focus of the day and which was attended by more than 150 people.
Numerous lectures were held at the conference by professionals and young people linked to the world of culture and also to the Engage! initiative like Kate Clanchy (writer and teacher), Céline Detauppe (president of Turfu les Éditions), Nil Barutel (Professor in artistic-social projects in the field of music and manager and consultant of cultural and educational projects), Tina Ramdeen (Youth, arts and community development specialist) or Galder Reguera (Head of activities at the Fundación Athletic Club, in Bilbao). The Engage! Guide was also presented during the day, a tool that, for the first time, tries to systematise the strategies developed by the European organisations in the field of youth participation.
Judit Carrera (director of the CCCB), Oriol Ponsatí (director of the Institució de les Lletres Catalanes), Esteve Caramès (Cultural Sectors director of ICUB), Àngels Gregori (President of PEN Català) and Gemma Rodríguez (Engage! coordinator from PEN Català) led the institutional welcome of the conference. We would also like to highlight the presence and participation in the event of the Engage! partners: Det Fria Ordets Hus of Växjö (Sweden), Krakowskie Biuro Festiwalowe of Krakow (Poland) and the National Centre for Writing in Norwich (UK). We should also mention the secondary school students from IES Viladomat in Barcelona, who will lead on the evaluation of the Engage! Final Conference.
We will share the summary video of LiterACTION soon. Stay tuned!
